One of a group of scholars who sought to understand the properties and fundamentals of all magic use with the goal of forming an institution. As the years wore on, the task that was at hand turned into an obsession for Virgil. His obsession with the project grew until his behavior grew intolerable and was ousted from the group.
Despite losing his colleagues, he pushed on in his studies until he hit a dead end in his research. Impatience got the best of him, and he tried cracking the seals of magic using force. The result of his actions was his transportation to Agroedon, dubbed the legendary demon world by most, with his only way out being a pact with one of the greater demons named Romu.
The eldest one of three greater demons known as the Aspects of Hoboryum, one of the last remaining arch-demons that are present in Agroedon. Once considered a zealot in the wars waged against the other remaining arch-demon, Narsonah, the endless wars with no progression led to him abstaining from conflict. Taken as a sign of obstruction, Hoboryum imprisoned his firstborn in isolation until the war has ended.
Isolated, Romu devised a plan to escape, but required the assistance of another. When he felt the strains of magical power intruding into the realm, he pulled them through, and before him stood the means of his escape.
Though their respective arch-demon masters have fallen, those still alive still roam the realm of their masters in a continual guard against those who might find their way in. After the deaths of their masters, they took it upon themselves to protect what's left of the realm by crafting keys to all the doors before sealing them. Virgil must counter these demons and take their keys in order to progress to the relics sealed deep within.
